Purification

Purification can be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes. When diffused, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including cigarette smoke and other disagreeable odors. Get rid of toxic sprays! Use purification instead!

  • Combine several drops with water in a spray bottle, shake to mix, then spray clothing and skin prior to going outdoors to prevent insect bites.
  • Diffuse in stale-smelling rooms, bathrooms or basements to combat unpleasant odors.

PanAway

PanAway was created by Gary Young following a severe injury to the ligaments in his leg. Containing wintergreen essential oil, which is often used for massage, PanAway is soothing to the skin while providing comforting warmth to muscles after exercise.

This is a great one to add to massage oil.

Lemon

Lemon (Citrus limon) has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. Lemon may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods. Lemon essential oil is cold-pressed from the rinds of lemons. Jean Valnet MD estimated that it takes 3,000 lemons to produce one kilo of oil.

Lemon is great to use for cleaning.
  • Add a drop to baking soda for a bathtub or sink scrub
  • Add 10-15 drops to 3 cups distilled water plus 1 cup white vinegar for a non-toxic window cleaner.
  • Add a drop to your non-toxic dishwashing detergent for extra degreasing power.

Frankincense

Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) has a sweet, warm, balsamic aroma that is stimulating and elevating to the mind. Useful for visualizing, improving one's spiritual connection, and centering, it has comforting properties that help focus the mind and overcome stress and despair.

Frankincense is considered the holy anointing oil in the Middle East, where it has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. More recently, it has been used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of substantial research. Frankincense is also a valuable ingredient in skin care products for aging and dry skin. The ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks.

It is a great addition to homemade facial cream.

Three Most Versatile, Must-Have Oils

Lavender is considered the "Swiss Army Knife" of essential oils for it's many uses. Thieves is a must have during flu season. Peppermint is another one of the most versatile oils. If you only get three oils, it should be these:

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a fresh, sweet, floral, herbaceous aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Lavender's aroma is great for relaxing and winding down before bedtime; add to bath or diffuse to create a calming and comforting environment. Lavender essential oil may complement your favorite shampoos, lotions and skin care products. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it.

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs for supporting normal digestion, including promoting healthy intestinal function and gastrointestinal system comfort. Peppermint may support performance during exercise. It has a strong, clean, fresh, minty aroma. This powerful essential oil is often diluted before topical application.

  • Add a drop of peppermint essential oil to herbal tea to help aid normal digestion.
  • Rub one drop of peppermint essential oil on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (avoid contact with eyes), and on the back of the neck to relieve head pressure.
  • Diffuse or inhale peppermint essential oil mid-morning to curb the desire to snack.
  • Inhale peppermint essential oil or rub a drop on your abdomen to soothe minor stomach discomfort.

Thieves was created based on research about four 15th-century thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing the dead and dying. Young Living's one-of-a-kind Thieves blend, crafted in the spirit of that legendary combination, can be found in all of our Thieves products. When taken internally, Thieves supports healthy immune function, and it includes Eucalyptus radiata essential oil, which helps maintain a healthy respiratory system. When taken as a dietary supplement, Thieves is an ideal complement to a daily wellness regimen.
